The Foundation

  • Tablecloth or Charger Plates – Crisp white or soft-toned linens; chargers at each place for depth and formality.

  • Centerpiece – Elegant but not overpowering; flowers or candles kept low for clear conversation.

  • Napkin – Freshly pressed, folded with intention or styled in a napkin ring.

  • Dinner Plate – Centered in front of the chair.

  • Salad Plate – Placed atop the dinner plate (removed before main course).

  • Soup Bowl – On top if soup is served first.

  • Bread Plate – Above forks, slightly to the left.

  • Forks – To the left of the plate:

  • Water Glass – Above the knives, slightly to the right.

  • Wine Glasses –

    • White wine glass (smaller) in front of the water glass.

    • Red wine glass (larger) slightly behind and to the right.

  • Champagne Flute – If served, placed behind wine glasses.

Final Touches

  • Place cards (optional but elegant) centered above each setting.

  • Polished silverware and gleaming glassware — no fingerprints.
